Identity, Power & Integral Change: Psychosocial Dimensions of Liberation & Transformation
Identity, Power & Integral Change is a professional development program for social change agents wanting to explore an integral approach to anti-oppression work while engaging practices for personal transformation and authentic leadership.
This program, offered in six 4-hour sessions, presents a unique framework of integral human well-being and development drawn from psychology, sociology, cultural studies, critical and integral theories, and steeped in four decades of experience with personal transformative practice and work in communities-of-struggle. This decolonial framework is an alternative to prevailing dichotomous models and fragmented approaches to personal or societal change which lack a broader, integral view of the psychosocial dimensions of change.
Through presentations, dialogue, exercises, study and personal practice, participants expand their understanding of well-being, deepen awareness of power dynamics, explore aspects of identity, examine cultural perspectives, reconsider shared beliefs and group behaviors, and engage practices that foster personal liberation, development and transformation.
Areas to be explored in this program include:
- Integral Well-Being & Development: Personal and Collective Dimensions of Being and Doing
- Forces That Hinder Well-Being & Development: Examining the Impact of Multiple Systems of Institutional Power
- Psychosocial Aspects of Social Identity within Dominant Culture: Self in Dynamic Relationship to Other(s)
- Integral Transformative Practices: Tools, Practices and Disciplines for Liberatory Transformation
Facilitated by Dr. Raúl Quiñones-Rosado, author of Consciousness-in-Action: Toward an Integral Psychology of Liberation & Transformation, this workshop is intended to support the work of helping professionals, community organizers, social justice and spiritual activists, cultural workers, organizational leaders, students, educators and others engaged in personal growth, professional development and social change.
